U16s Win Silver Medal at Nationals

Eagles U16s came Runners Up at the England Netball U16 Nationals in Redbridge last weekend.  This is a fantastic achievement for the team, competing against all the top teams in the country, only losing in the Final after winning all their other matches over the weekend.

They qualified for the Nationals by winning the Netball South U16 competition with a 100% record.  Eagles started the Nationals weekend with wins over Telstars and Stratford Thunderbirds in the morning, and Grangetown and Kingston Phoenix in the afternoon.  This meant that they would be playing for a Top 6 place on Sunday.

First match on Sunday was against fellow Netball South team Weston Park Blades, with Eagles taking a 38-17 win.  Next up was Turnford, with Eagles down after the first two quarters, but managed to turn it around and secured a place in the Final with a 27-22 win.  The Final was against Bury, who were also unbeaten, but Bury proved to be too strong and ran out winners 33-16.

It was a fantastic all round effort from the whole squad over the weekend, deservedly taking home the Silver Medal.  Well done to Marta, Mille, Lila, Lula, Regan, Ceci, Holly, Charlotte, Maddi, Dane, Summer and Anna, with Eden and Sophia supporting but unable to take to court due to injury.  And thanks to our coaches Maria, Lisa, Tina and Farrah.
