Final score Eagles 39 : 29 Woodley
Yesterday we played our final game of the season against Woodley. Having already secured a place at Nationals and qualified top of the league, I don’t think our mindset was completely with the game, even though we were determined to finish with a bang, as we didn’t have one of our best performances. However we kept our heads together to the end and came out with the win we were hoping for.
Woodley came out strong in the first quarter, scoring the first goal. The quarter was well contested and we fought hard to just about come out in front with a score of 9-8.
The contest was close again in the second quarter with us coming out on top again with a score of 8-7 meaning there was now two in it in the overall score of 17-15.
We started to pull away in the third quarter as we put some fresh legs on and our improved fitness and determination to win began to show. We managed to win the quarter 14-5 to pull away with a convincing score of 31-20.
We sat back a bit in the final quarter which was when more unforced errors made their appearance. Although we lost the quarter 9-8, our overall level of performance secured a good win of 39-29 and leaving us unbeaten in the South Region League.
There is still a lot to develop and improve during the oncoming weeks of the lead up to nationals, especially silly mistakes and overall strength and fitness. It was a tough game to end on, but every player should feel proud of the win.
Credits to Woodley as they have come a long way since the start of the season. Shooting stats from our shooters were good and congratulations to Charlotte for a well-deserved player of the match.
