Final Score: Eagles 14 - 61 Weston Park Blades (L)
On Saturday, we played Weston Park Blades in the south region tournament. We travelled down to a very nice setting in rural Hampshire.
Our last game ended in a hard fought draw, so we thought Weston would come out hard to justify their current high position in the league.
It was a very tough game for us, but both teams fought to the end. The final score was 61-14 to Western Park and credit to them; they had a fantastic game and we just couldn’t match them in the moment.
Both teams began positively, but Weston Park began to run away with the lead from the start. They won the first quarter 16-3, but that didn’t let our heads go down. Our small squad only had 1 sub so we were struggling with pace and energy, something we are constantly working on including our pace of play.
So far playing up an age group in this very competitive regional league, we have managed to hold our own, but on this occasion, Weston dominated our play in all areas of the court.
Playing tough, older opposition is a great learning experience for us and stretches us in every game; we know this will hopefully set us up for when we play in our own age group league next year.
Congratulations to our goal attack, Ella, on being voted girl of the game.
