Many congratulations to our U13 team who played in the U14 Regional qualifying tournament this weekend and qualified in 7th place in a very tightly fought tournament.
The list of teams we were set to play was daunting with some very good teams in our group who had come high up in the U13 regional league last year. The girls were going to have to play their very best netball.
The weather was challenging with continuous rain for most of the day but the team’s spirit was sunny. They fought hard to make it through a tough group stage to give themselves a chance at qualification in the afternoon games. We took few points forward from the morning session so true grit and determination was needed to get every point possible.
The girls won the first two matches and the excitement grew. By the final match we needed one point to qualify. Despite fatigue and cold they were able to battle on and get the point they needed. They narrowly lost the final game against Bucks Phoenix 5-4. It was so close, if they had won they would have come joint 3rd overall.
This has been a major achievement for all our girls who are all playing up and have beaten some excellent teams from the South Region. They should all be really proud of such an incredible achievement. They have all worked hard over the summer to maintain their fitness and netball skills and the effort put in to be prepared clearly showed.
The excitement and joy of all the coaches was wonderful to see, thank you for all your hard work and effort in getting us here.
Thank you to Anton for your help with scoring throughout the day.
Thank you to the parents who were equally saturated, for great support in trying conditions!
