Final Score: Eagles 34 v Clan 23 (W)

Our match against Clan was a fantastic opportunity to practise all the skills that we have learnt in training. Everyone played well and kept getting better as the match progressed. We played 6 sections, each 10 minutes, so that everyone had a chance to play various positions.

In the first section, we were very nervous, but we managed to score 2 early goals. Clan recovered to draw level at 3 all at the end of the section.

However, in the second section Clan moved ahead by 13 goals to 6, but we didn’t stop fighting. Being a training match, Clan made lots of changes for the next section. We also tried new combinations with Marta at GK and Eden at GS.

Eden’s shooting was amazing, and Marta, Maddie V and Charlotte intercepted a lot of passes which brought us back to 14-14. After half-time Dane achieved lots of interceptions and Jo helped to bring the ball up the court. Marta and Eden worked great together and brought the score to 19-20 to Clan.

In the fifth section, Maddi L, Anna and Keshni demonstrated excellent driving skills and the feeds into Marta were very accurate. We made a strong come back with the score 26 to us and 21 to Clan.

In the last section, Clan made more changes but we were now on a roll and managed to finalise the score at 34-23 to us.

The well-deserved player of the match was Maddi L who made some great interceptions. As a team, we worked together and enjoyed playing against Clan. Thank you, Tina, for coaching us and all the parents that cheered us on. We are looking forward to our next match!

Lucy was my captain for this match and she did a great job; positive and supportive throughout, with good communication. Leading by example on the court she played with determination in each position (GA, GS and GK!!) And her shooting was fantastic with 80% stats (8 out of 10).
