Final Score: Eagles 20 v Finch 7 (W)

The girls were a little nervous but mostly excited going into their first match of the season after the long summer break. Some of the girls were in different positions than last season, nevertheless they still gave it everything playing at 100%. First up this season was Finchampstead at the very nice sports centre at St Neots school. The girls got off to a good start, gaining an early lead and ended the first quarter 7-2 ahead.

After some changes made in the second quarter, a difference showed and they were stronger in defence and quicker to transition the ball down court to the shooters. Some good combinations with the GA and GS helped us and we ended up 14-5 at half time.

As the heat of the sports hall increased and Finch’s defence improved, the game became much tighter in the last 2 quarters, however the team still gave it everything.

The girls eventually won 20-7 and were ecstatic to take home a win from the first game of the season. There is no doubt that the players will sleep well tonight after an extremely energetic performance today from both teams. Well done girls … same again next match please!
