Final Score: Eagles 41 v Weston Park Blades 43 (L)
Our U12’s took on a spirited Newbury this afternoon. The girls got into their stride quickly with both Charlotte and Marta scoring in the opening 2 minutes. The first quarter was all about Kiera and Eden incepting, Annabel to Izzy to Charlotte and Marta. Marta taking balls at full stretch to bring up 10 in the first quarter, which ended 14-2 Eagles.
Today’s match against Weston Park Blades (WPB) was gruelling and competitive; challenging us to raise our game.
WPB came out strong taking a small lead but with Abi, Charlotte and Farrah’s brilliant defence we managed to turn ball over finishing the first quarter 14-11 up.
After some defensive changes we continued our lead in the second quarter due to some great shooting from our attackers Libby and Jemma. In the third quarter, however, the game tightened up with WPB’s defenders challenging our every pass and putting up a good fight. Eagles managed to finish the very tough quarter clinging on to a 33-32 lead.
The last quarter was not our best and WPB took that opportunity and dug deep pulling out a 43-41 win against Eagles. As our Eagles twitter feed says “They say you learn more from a loss, we certainly will re focus and come back stronger”.
A massive well played to both teams and especially Jaz for being Eagles’ player of the match!
